Ski Review: D3 Skis X5 Pro

The D3 X5 Pro is a perennial favorite of elite and novice skiers alike. The X5 is one of the last elite skis that is made without a superlight core; being a little heavier means it is less affected by rough water.

Offering consistent turns and solid wake crossings, the X5 Pro is as shortline capable as its lightweight competitors.

Riding deeper in the water than most high-end skis, the X5 Pro is not known for a feeling of blinding speed, but it carves a wide path to the ball line and then creates ample angle to the wakes. The X5 may have the smoothest turning and most forgiving of any high-end ski on the market. Unlike skis that turn all at once, the X5's more progressive turn radius allows the skier to wait and let the ski continue to build additional angle. More advanced skiers will find that as the rope gets shorter, the turn radius gets tighter. With unmatched forgiveness, stability and ease of use, the X5 Pro is a ski that anyone can ski well on.

“The X5 Pro really holds angle well and is comfortable across the wakes. This ski will go deep into shortline right out of the box.”
Dwight Woodbridge

“I would recommend this ski to someone who needs forgiveness, moves around on the ski and needs to scrap a bit. It makes nice, deep turns that will help in rough water or when you are out of position. The X5 Pro is the ski for me.” — Chris Carter

“The X5 Pro gets nice and wide at the pre-turn. The shorter the rope is, the easier it is. The Pro is really consistent.” — Brie Carter
