The adjustable fin clamp innovator brings slalom techies another treat
What Steve Schnitzer says:
On a standard wing, the attachment plates run about 300/1,000 of an inch, which creates a wedge effect and represents nothing but pure drag. It also happens to lift the tail and drive in the tip in the turn. Since I always set up the standard fin and my SlotFin and wing to exact factory specs when working with Goode skis, I developed the Speed Fin. It features a nonadjustable, built-in wing and therefore eliminates unnecessary drag for a faster ski.
What we say:
After testing the Speed Fin on a Goode 9800, the performance aspects of the new fin are impressive. There was a sense of increased glide on the water and the ski felt fast and in control. Although a little pricey, the Speed Fin is one innovation definitely worth trying out if you ski on a Goode. Schnitz is currently working on developing other manufacturers' exact fin and wing shapes and will introduce them as they become available.
Speed Fin: $129.99 Speed Gauge (measures depth): $36.95
