Need for Speed - the HO Syndicate S1

HO introduces the all-new Syndicate S1.

Last year, HO Sports unveiled its A1 ski. This year, it’s the S1. Working off the shape of the very successful A1, Bob LaPoint and the Syndicate team created a ski designed specifically for speed and the support you need through turns. It’s important to know, however, that the S1 is not just a softer-flex version of its Syndicate predecessor. As a 34 mph-specific ski, it rides high in the water, is easy to maneuver and makes super-fast and stable turns thanks to added surface area in front of and behind the boots.

During the 2009 WaterSki Fantasy Camp, one of our campers, Troy Kuhl, was in possession of one of these babies. We were interested in what he, as a non-pro skier, thought about the ski so we could share it with our non-pro readers. Here’s Troy’s insight on the Syndicate super ski:

“I was skiing on an A1, and right off the bat I loved it. But I felt like it was turning really slow at my speed. And I think that the S1, since the majority of its use is for 34 mph skiers, definitely holds across the wakes like the A1 is designed to do, but it turns a lot snappier. Kind of like the Monza but way more stable. The S1 is very stable at all the line lengths that I’ve been running, and when I go to turn on it, it just whips right around. When I got on the S1, I instantly felt comfortable. I feel more solid, and I’m not working as hard. I’ve skied on HO skis for a long time, and I can say the S1 right out of the box is phenomenal. For the 34 mph skier, the S1 is the better choice.”
