With the growth of wakeskating, several manufacturers are beginning to dabble in the market. Here are the latest samples:
The leader of the wakeskate revolution since 1997, Fresh- water Traction was the first to make special pads that attach to your existing wakeboard, changing it into a wakeskate. These pads can easily be mounted on any board: Just remove your bindings and slap on the traction pads. MSRP: $100/pair
Blindside's wakeskate conversion cap gives you the option to change anytime by simply removing your bindings and using your four-thumb screws to attach the cap. It's covered in soft, textured foam for a better grip and added protection. Works with both the 1998 and 1999 Blindside Five-0 models.
MSRP: $220
The Sponge from Liquid Force is designed specifically for wakeskating. The top is constructed entirely from foam to help soften your impact, just in case you land on the board and not your feet.
MSRP: $310
Hyperlite was the first to create a board just for wakeskating, with three separate versions based off the Voyager, Juvi and Fluid models of wakeboards. A soft foam top adds protection from those occasional unplanned landings. The skate comes complete with pads for better traction. Note: They're designed for Hyperlite wakeskates only.
MSRP: $300
Bad Ass/Astrodeck has come out with several versions of wakeskate pads that mount directly to the top of your wakeboard. Signature models from Scott Byerly, Gator Lutgert and Christian Fletcher give you the choice of using the same traction design of your favorite pro. The company offers The Hook, designed to lock your feet in place when attempting tricks, and it can be combined with any of the signature models.
