GET THERE EARLY
I always like to be on-site early. This allows me to examine the conditions from different angles around the lake and get a feel for what is happening. It also lets me listen to what other skiers are saying after their runs. Sometimes, I bring a magazine to take my mind off skiing; I half read and half watch the event. As for a physical warm-up, I’m not big into stretching, so I might jog a little to get the blood flowing, but I don’t have a set routine. Basically, I just make sure I am there early, because it’s too uncomfortable being away and not knowing if something changed. — Andy Mapple, most successful slalom skier ever
