How do you annoy Ryan on the boat?
She says: Probably the way I get into the water: I don’t like jumping in. I get in really slow. I slide off the back. I like to keep my hair dry if I can.
He says: She could pay attention to her timing a little more, but she doesn’t annoy me.
 
What meal does Ryan like to eat more than anything after a draining set?
She says: Anything that’s in the fridge. He’s not a picky eater – he eats everything.
He says: If I’m training really hard, a meal-replacement protein shake. But otherwise, I like Mexican. I’m all about the cheese.
 
How often does Ryan complain about muscle soreness?
She says: Every day, a few times a day.
He says: I don’t deny it.
 
How many hours a week does Ryan spend working out and looking at himself in the mirror?
She says: He doesn’t really work out that much anymore. On average, he goes to the gym three times a week for an hour to an hour and a half.
He says: She’s right. Not nearly as much as when I was younger. Anywhere from five to eight hours a week, and not much mirror action.
 
In Ryan’s view, what’s the most memorable tournament you’ve shared as a couple?
She says: Collegiate Nationals, the last one we won.
He says: That one comes in second. I would say 2009 Worlds in Calgary. I did OK, but it was great because we won as a team, mainly because she skied awesome. That made the whole thing worthwhile. She ran 3 at 38, and had the second best score going into the finals.
 
What do you do to annoy Breanne when you ski together?
He says: Well, not too long ago she accused me of sabotaging her 1 ball at 38 off. She thought I was trying to make her fall at the Last Chance Qualifier tournament.
She says: He’s really slow putting on his gloves and bindings.
 
Describe Breanne’s pre-tournament routine.
He says: I try not to be there so that our routines don’t rely on each other. But I would guess she warms up and then relaxes.
She says: I warm up for 15 to 20 minutes about 30 minutes before I ski: five minutes jogging, walking lunges, ab crunches and then, just before I ski, I relax.
 
What does Breanne love and hate about the way you drive?
He says: She likes the consistency of having the same driver. But I’ve been accused of being too quick to tighten the rope between passes.
She says: He’s a good driver, but I would say he’s a little impatient between passes.
 
In what areas does Breanne need to improve in order to win a pro event?
He says: She’s getting stronger and that’s adding stability.
She says: I need to get stronger because I’m short. I need to keep my hips over my feet instead of squatting after a turn.
 
How does Breanne like to celebrate a personal best?
He says: She loves shoes and margaritas.
She says: True. I just bought myself a new pair of dressy flats at Aldo the same day I ran 2 at 39 at Okeeheelee in May.
