If hard work makes you good, it’s desire that makes you great. Always a shining example of discipline and focus, this was the year that WHITNEY MCCLINTOCK’s unfailing passion for winning took hold and propelled her to the top of women’s slalom. The 21-year-old from Ontario, Canada, won all but one pro slalom event she entered this season (four wins and counting), and when she placed off the podium at the masters, she made up for it with a win in tricks. The icing on the cake? Defending her world slalom title in Dubna, Russia, and doing it with the grace and power of a true veteran.
