BEHIND THE SHOT: “Ten minutes before Tevin Gilbert carved this picturesque turn in the brackish water of Ski Paradise’s lagoon in Acapulco, Mexico, I was desperately trying to save my camera from certain death. I’m usually on top of my game when it comes to avoiding the line of fire in a slalom course, but when I positioned the photo boat just outside the gates I grossly miscalculated the distance. Not only did my camera take a direct hit, but Rich Barrett’s (a guest at Ski Paradise) camera was blasted by water as well. I try to focus on the positive after moments like this in my life with the saying, ‘it could have been worse’.”–Todd Ristorcelli
