Oppenlander and Sans Rival owner Alex Munninger take a break from the photo-action at Le Club 55. Cheers!
Sans Rival has always had its own distinctive flair when it comes to marketing. Often incorporating the look of high-fashion photography, their marketing campaigns have done anything but follow the status quo. “Water skiing appeared to be stuck in 1975, and while that’s a positive in many ways, it was obvious we needed to help steer the sport in a new direction,” Munninger says. “Our goal is to showcase our lifestyle and bring new people into the sport.”

Oppenlander knifes through the water at Monaco Wake and Ski in Roquebrune-Sur Argens, France – a short drive from St. Tropez.
Although course skiing is alive and well in the area (check out Monaco Wake and Ski), Munninger and Oppenlander wanted to showcase their skis in a different light. Instead of buoys, Oppenlander would be using 100-foot yachts to time his turns while free-skiing with Laurent Dubien at St. Tropez Water Ski. “It was unreal skiing in a place like that,” Oppenlander recalls. “You’re being dwarfed by these $100 million boats. The whole experience was on point. Beautiful girls, cool clubs, unreal restaurants and bars; it was definitely my scene.”

Mixing it up with the club members of Monaco Wake and Ski, Oppenlander ends another day of posing for the camera.
