June Fladborg's Crash that could've Ended her Career

This jump last November marked Fladborg’s first time over the ramp since her crash in October 2010.

“At the moment, I am cutting; I have been doing a few jumps here and there, but my main focus is to get my foot strong again,” she says. She knows that she can’t ignore the considerable nerve damage that she sustained.

Even surgeries are not necessarily over for her. Possibly far from it. Through it all, her sponsors have supported her. “Thanks for believing in me, Stoke Skis, Team Denmark, Hazelwood Ski World, Headzone, Wiley and 69 Slam,” Fladborg says.

But regardless of her future as a competitor, her link to the sport won’t likely end anytime soon. Her coach left her half of his business, so Stokes Skis just landed a sharp competitor. She’s also involved with Girls That Fly, an organization that encourages girls to take up water skiing.

Fladborg’s never-surrender attitude and love of being on the water have kept her motivated to return to competitive skiing.

“I don’t know if I can set new records, but I can try,” Fladborg says. “I don’t know any other way but to keep on pushing. I love the feeling of being out there on the water — it just feels so good to be back!” By Eric Butterman
