If a wakeboard back roll is old news, then tune in to the next stage: switch-stance. The switch roll (switch-stance roll) is just like a back roll, but performed with your weakest foot forward. For example, if you ride left-foot-forward, then a switch roll would be performed with your right foot forward and landed in the same fashion.
Before you throw the move, I recommend you have consistency in your fakie riding and half-cab wake jumps. Try 19 mph and a line length of 53 feet.
First, turn fakie outside the wake. Next, turn slow and edge progressively into the wake, maintaining your focus on the horizon (Photo 1). As you reach the top of the wake, throw the tail of the board away from the boat, as far back as you can (Photo 2). Let your momentum continue to roll you around (Photo 3). While in the air, let go with your back hand (hand opposite your dominant foot). This will help bring the board back around to fakie (Photo 4). Holding on with two hands will result in a half-cab roll.
For the landing, keep your head up and knees bent (Photo 5). Bring in the handle for stability (Photo 6).
