USA Water Ski Names Lakes at Cypress Hill As Host Site
USA Water Ski announced today that the Lakes at Cypress Hill in Cypress, Texas, will be the host site of the 2000 U.S. Water Ski Team Trials. USA Water Ski's International Activities Committee selected the Lakes at Cypress Hill after considering facilities, local support and site conditions. The Team Trials are scheduled for June 30 to July 2. The Team Trials will determine the members of two teams — Junior and 17-to-21 — who will represent the United States in international competitions next year. The Junior and 17-to-21 teams will compete with the U.S. Elite and Veteran teams next summer at the 2000 Pan American Championships in Los Morelos, Mexico. The Acua Ski venue is the same site where the U.S. 17-to-21, Junior and Veteran teams each won team gold medals at the 1999 Americas' Challenge. The 17-to-21 and Junior teams each will be comprised of four athletes. The Junior team also will compete at the 2000 Junior World Championships next summer in Greece.
The Lakes at Cypress Hill hosts numerous record-capability tournaments each year. In July, the three-lake site will host the South Central Regional Championships for the third time. “The Lakes at Cypress Hill is a superb site with excellent conditions for our athletes,” said Bob Schouten, USA Water Ski's director of competition. “We expect their performances to reflect the quality of the site.”
