KD's Laser Aligned Fin System

You can call ski pioneer Denny Kidder a lot of things: rogue, entrepreneur, blues saxaphonist, design guru. But the one that seems to stick out the most is: first. The man who brought the Micro-Adjustable Fin to market has leap-frogged the rest of the industry with one of the most unique ideas we've seen in years. The Laser Aligned Fin System is clearly head and shoulders above any other fin system on the market. If you can make a claim that fin alignment is important – and I think you can – this new design is tops.

The system is simple, really. By placing a fin box cutout in the ski mold (as opposed to anchoring the fin to an existing box that's dependent on the ski's tail tolerance), Kidder is able to place a precision-machined aluminum block in the spot, giving skiers perfect alignment and adjustment every time. The fin is adjusted, then, by using a template (provided). When you find a setting that's right for you, simply create your own template, and you'll never have to worry about finding that perfect setting again.

If you've ever had trouble with fin settings and alignment, this could be the answer (albeit an expensive one). It only comes with a new KD 7000. For more information, call 206-735-9226. – Randy Myers
