Winter Waterland

If it's not frozen, they'll be on it. Leave it to the die-hard Wisconsinites to throw a ski event on one of the only open-water stretches in the entire state. The frigid flowing Rock River will be the liquid playing field for the first annual Winter Waterland in Newville, WI, January 22. That day the Anchor Inn of Newville will host at least 50 thick-skinned skiers and riders for a fun day of skiing, boarding, hanging out and partying. Yes, the date is correct, and yes, it will be cold. Normal temps are usually around 20 degrees. There is going to be a wakeboard and barefoot contest as well as some other fun water skiing contests. Bands and beer will take over after sunset.
