New Director of Water Sports Plans to Ride High at The Slalom Shop

LEWISVILLE, Texas – August 28, 2001 – The Slalom Shop, a marine and watersport dealership in Lewisville, Texas, recently created a new position designed to directly target the water ski and wake board market.

Kris Tuininga was appointed to this position and is now The Slalom Shop's new director of water sports.

''This position was created to focus on the water ski and wake board market,'' said Derek Chapman, general manager of The Slalom Shop. ''This is grass roots stuff to us. We want to make sure we provide our water skiing and wake boarding customers with the best products, equipment and opportunities possible.''

As the director of water sports, Tuininga is responsible for managing the pro shop. This includes purchasing, merchandising and promoting it. He also will be handling a number of special events including boat shows, wake board clinics, and tournaments. In addition, Tuininga will coordinate several events designed to promote the new Tigé ski boat that The Slalom Shop is now carrying.

Before joining The Slalom Shop, Tuininga was the sales and marketing director for a leading manufacturer. He spent 6 years traveling with the Water Ski and Pro Wake Board Tour and has been an active participant in watersports since he was 6 years old.

''As our dealership has grown, there has become a tremendous need for a water sports specialist. The wake board craze is still growing, and Kris has the experience and expertise to help wake board entusiasts with their needs,'' Chapman said.

The Slalom Shop is the premier boat and watersport dealership in North Texas and has been selling quality boats since 1977. Located at the Garden Ridge exit off I-35 in Lewisville, its state-of-the-art facilities feature a two-level showroom with 20,000 square feet of the most popular marine products.
