Team Vonore, TN — For 33 years MasterCraft has been fueling the growth and evolution of competitive watersports, with revolutionary boat designs, sponsorship and grass roots support. This spring MasterCraft is renewing its commitment with the creation of an elite support squad named the ''Tournament Team,'' which will utilize the world's first towboat approved for all 5 major USA WaterSki events. ''The Tournament Team will be a fanatical group of MasterCraft waterski enthusiasts, dedicated to traveling the country and providing support for competitive water ski and wakeboard tournaments at every level,'' said Skip Gilkerson, director of skiing. ''We are going to hand-pick these members and offer them a unique opportunity to be a part of MasterCraft, own the best competition ski boat in the world and pay them for it!'' Tournament Team members will make appearances at AWSA, INT, NSL and wakeboard grass roots tournaments, as well as boat shows, dealer open houses and clinics from coast to coast. They will provide the use of a MasterCraft and assist tournament officials. Best of all, they will be flaunting an exclusive AWSA certified Tournament Team boat. ''This is the first and only boat to be AWSA certified in all 5 events; trick, slalom, jump, barefoot and ski-fly.'' said Chris Prunty, competition programs coordinator for USA Water Ski. ''This shows the versatility of the hull and 6.0L [Cadillac LQ9] engine. Open or closed bow, you can use a single boat to pull several different events.'' MasterCraft will produce 100 special edition ProStar 190's and ProStar 197's, dialed in and tournament ready for 2002. This is the same tournament-bred hull that recently towed Nicolas le Forestier, MasterCraft-Europe trick skier, to a new World Trick Record of 12,220 points at the 2001 French Masters. All Tournament Team boats will be viper red, include Pro Tour graphics and be emblazoned with a Tournament Team decal. They will also be equipped with Perfect Pass, ballast systems and an AWSA approved powertrain (Cadillac LQ9 6.0L PowerSlot or Predator 5.7L PowerSlot). Tournament Team members will also have the option of outfitting their boats with a Clarion stereo system, ZeroFlex Flyer tower, a MasterCraft tandem axle trailer, heater, bimini top and slick boot soap pump.
This special Tournament Team package will not be available to anyone but team members! For every event Tournament Team members attend they will earn $200. They will also receive a rebate on their boat based on years of service and be exclusively outfitted with MasterCraft Tournament Team clothing. This program will be limited to the first 100 members.
