Three win individual titles, four finish in the top five

Polk City, Fla. – U.S. water ski athletes Rhoni Barton (Orlando, Fla.), Karen Truelove (Winter Garden, Fla.) and Caroline Wolfe (Homer, Mich.) won individual titles Monday as the 2002 Moomba Masters and Junior Moomba Masters concluded in Melbourne, Australia.
Barton won Women's tricks by scoring 7,290 points, and also placed second in jumping with a leap of 149 feet, and fourth in slalom, scoring 1 buoy at 38 feet off. Truelove, competing in her first event since undergoing off-season knee surgery last October, won Women's slalom by running 3 buoys at 38 feet off.
Other U.S. athletes who secured top-five finishes were: Chris Parrish (Orlando, Fla.), Men's slalom; Scot Ellis (Auburndale, Fla.), Men's jumping; Freddy Krueger (Winter Garden, Fla.), Men's jumping; and April Coble (Lillington, N.C.), Women's slalom. Parrish ran 3-1/2 at 39-1/2 off to finish runner-up to Great Britain's Andy Mapple (2 at 41 off) in the slalom event. Ellis jumped 207 feet to finish second behind Canada's Jaret Llewellyn (214 feet), while Krueger finished fourth with a 203-foot jump. Coble was third in Women's slalom, running 2-1/4 at 38 off.
In the 2002 Junior Moomba Masters, Caroline Wolfe finished first in jumping, and second in tricks and slalom to win the Junior Girls overall title with 2,743 points.
