ORLANDO, FL October 2002—Correct Craft just may have
built the ultimate 3-event waterski tournament towboat. The
2003 Ski Nautique® 196, with its unique
TSC2 hull and PCM's new ZR6, which is based on the GM
Vortec 6000 6.0 liter engine, has absolutely turned the tournament
world upside down. PCM is the division of Pleasurecraft
Engine Group dedicated to powering the finest ski and wakeboard
boats in the world. Having just returned from the USA Water
Ski's annual towboat tests, where the Ski Nautique 196 with the GM
Vortec 6000-based PCM ZR6 engine received approval status
for towing USAWS record capability tournaments—USAWS's
highest rating.
Unofficially, the word on the beach at the USAWS towboat
evaluation in Houston, Texas, was that the Ski Nautique 196 could
be the finest waterski boat ever driven or skied behind. The
scuttlebutt was affirmed just one week later, September
29th, at a record capability tournament in Central
Florida, where Jaret Llewellyn soared to a pending World Jump
Record of 235 feet (71.9 meters). Then Jaret capped the day
off by setting a pending World Overall Record also using the Ski
Nautique 196 to Trick 10,730 points. He added a personal best
slalom score of 5 at 38-off (5 @ 11.25m) to round out his overall
competition.
“What makes this accomplishment unique,” says Al Alvarez, GM
Vortec Engines Brand Manager, “is that this engine is based on the
same engine that can be found in Chevy and GMC trucks and
was presented to Correct Craft through PCM for application
in the 2003 Nautiques.”
Correct Craft, along with GM Vortec Engines and PCM, may
possibly have created the ultimate towing machine. It's
really not that unusual when you consider the history of Correct
Craft and their alliances with key vendors. “We are
very proud of our relationships with PCM and GM Vortec Engines,”
Larry Meddock, Correct Craft's vice president of marketing stated,
“and now we have some world records to accentuate it.”
