2004 U.S. Open Water Ski Championships Canceled

The 2004 U.S. Open Water Ski Championships has been canceled due to circumstances beyond the control of USA Water Ski and CCMH Sports, the event manager of the 2004 U.S. Open. The 18th U.S. Open was originally scheduled for Oct. 8-10 in West Palm Beach, Fla., before being postponed to Nov. 19-21 and relocated to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., following the devastation caused by hurricanes Charley, Frances and Jeanne. The U.S. Open, the largest cash-prize water ski tournament in the world, annually attracts the world's top water ski athletes from more than a dozen countries.”We regret that the 2004 U.S. Open Water Ski Championships will not be held,” said Steve McDermeit, USA Water Ski's executive director. “But USA Water Ski is looking forward to hosting a successful event in 2005.”
