46th Masters Juniors Criteria Announced

Orlando, FL  Jan. 3, 2005 —The Masters Steering Committee has released the water ski invitation criteria for the 13th Junior Masters Water Ski Tournament to be held at Callaway in Pine Mountain, Georgia, over Memorial Day weekend, May 27-29, 2005 as part of the 46th Masters Water Ski & Wakeboard Tournament, the worlds oldest, most prestigious, water ski and wakeboard tournament.  
   
The Masters Committee meets each year to discuss the invitation criteria for the next year's event, due to the ever-changing environment of waterskiing, and has arrived at a complete list of criteria to ensure that the world's very best junior athletes are invited to the 13th Junior Masters.

2004 Defending Junior Masters Event and Overall Champions
2004 IWSF Junior World Championships Event and Overall Champions
Top 7 on the final IWSF Junior World Water Ski Ranking List for Slalom, Tricks & Jump.
Top 5 on the IWSF Junior World Water Ski Ranking List for Overall
2004 Junior U.S. Open – Boys and Girls Water Ski Event and Overall Champions
2004 U.S. Nationals Girls 3 and Boys 3 Water Ski Event and Overall Champions

Performance in an IWSF sanctioned record-capability tournament between November 1, 2004 and May 22, 2005 which is equal to or exceeds the performance level of the 5th ranked skier on the final 2004 IWSF Junior World Water Ski Ranking Lists,** published as of March 1, 2005. (It should be noted that the Junior Masters tournament will begin a little earlier this year -Friday morning at 8:00 a.m. with the Junior Masters preliminary round.) Other important information is as follows:

  • To qualify, an athlete must be 17 years of age or younger as of January 1, 2005.  
  • Only Contestants invited to compete in two events may drag a third event with a valid EP or higher rating to qualify for Overall.  
  • The direction of the jump ramp will be determined by the Chief Judge and moveable for the Junior Masters, as it has been for the Masters, if it would have an impact on the event.

Changes to the invitation letter and information sheet will be modified to establish a required RSVP/entry and fee due by April 15. A late fee will be applicable to entry fees received after April 15th. If entry and fee have not been received by April 30th, the invitation is rescinded.
