ORLANDO, FLA – Correct Craft, Inc. is sponsoring a new series of 34-mile-per-hour slalom water skiing events across the nation in 2006. The Ski Nautique Big Dawg Slalom Series will consist of four regionally held qualifying tournaments and a final competition at Correct Craft's new International Headquarters in Orlando, Florida.
Each of the four qualifying tournaments will pit up to 50 skiers in heart-pounding competition, vying for a share of $5,000 cash and a chance to advance to the finals. The top eight finishers at each qualifier will move on to the finals in Orlando, September 30 – October 1, where the cash purse will be $10,000 and the top competitor will claim the Big Dawg title.
“Correct Craft is deeply committed to the sport of water skiing,” said Correct Craft President Terry McNew. “This series is designed specifically to appeal to the majority of skiers who may never compete professionally but who still possess awesome ability and competitive spirits.”
The series is open to men, 35-64 years of age, who have not placed in the top 10 in a pro tournament in the past 3 years, or who are over age 50. Entries for each qualifying event will be limited to the first 50 qualified paid skiers.
“Our hope is that the Ski Nautique Big Dawg will be so successful that we can expand it to include more segments- like women and more age classes- in the years to come,” said McNew.
The first 2006 Ski Nautique Big Dawg qualifier will be June 24 – 25, at the Ski Ranch, in Covington, Louisiana. The second stop will be July 15 – 16, at Bellalago Lake, in Leavittsburg, Ohio. The third stop will be August 26 – 27, at Diablo Shores, in Brentwood, California. The fourth qualifying event will be held September 9 – 10, at Skyview Lake, in Harmony, North Carolina.
