The 2006 US Open of WaterSkiing, presented by MasterCraft Boat Company, will be the first large-scale ski tournament held at night under the lights of Downtown Disney. MasterCraft, who is working side by side with the entertainment engineers at Disney, will have the venue completely lit, including the lake, buoys, jump ramp and spectator area. The combination of world-class skiers and first rate lighting will create a spectacle not ever witnessed before in the sport of skiing.
“The goal this year was to go into areas skiing has never been before,” says Chris Sullivan, event coordinator. “After several conversations, we realized a night event at Disney would be a stunning way to end the US Open. With the music from the House of Blues and the lighting display created by Disney, everyone will have an incredibly fun time cheering on the athletes and more importantly, they will leave with a new perspective and respect for waterskiing.”
