2009 SplashEye Rocketman Record
It is almost here . . . only 2 days to go before Fluid Ski & Sports hosts the 2009 SplashEye Rocketman Record this coming weekend, October 10th and 11th.
The site looks great, both the east and west facing jump courses are now in so we will have a good chance for a head wind, and Donal Connolly arrives Friday afternoon to get SplashEye set-up and running. You will know exactly how far you jump in practice on Saturday!!
Limited Jump practice is available on Saturday in between the trick tournament which starts at 10:30 until around 4:30pm. E-mail us at SkiFluid@aol.com if you would like to reserve a spot. We have 15 minute slots from 8:30am-10:30am, 12pm-1pm, and after Tricks finishes at 4:30pm.
Jump on Sunday starts at 8am and there are a couple of competitions going on. Thanks to Vern Oberg there is cash on the line for the Single Wake contest. The current Ski Fly Single Cut Record is 164 set in 2008 but this year we want 170 (52m) broken so there $1500 for the top single wake cut over that distance. Additionally, there is $250 for 1st, $150 for 2nd and $100 for 3rd. There is a trophy for the longest 6ft, 5 1/2ft, and 5ft single cut.
There are a few rules:
- The skier must begin his cut on the left hand side of the left wake.
- Divisional maximum speeds apply, and boat times must be in tolerance.
- If the skier does a single on one or more of their first 3 jumps their longest single will count. This does not apply for Open Men or Open Women, the recorded single will be there 4th jump regardless.
- The Single Cut competition only applies to the first 2 rounds.
If you aren’t skiing, come out watch . . . see the skiers test the limits on how far they can single cut. On top of that, there will be 28 skiers going to beat their personal bests and take home cash in the Handicap competition. At $25 per skier, approximately $700 is up for grabs for the top 3 skiers who can improve the most!
