Katy, Texas, a suburb 20 miles west of downtown Houston will host the 2011 Katy Ski Jam Oct 14-15, 2011. The world’s top professional and senior tour water ski athletes will compete in traditional slalom ski and long-distance jumping events for $30,000 in prize money. Audiences on hand will be entertained by the best water ski athletes from around the world.
Eagle Sports will also showcase the different types of water sports that it supports on Saturday evening between 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. The Eagle Sports showcase will include the world’s best freestyle barefoot water skiers as well as the huge aerial acrobatics of freestyle ski jumping, hydrofoil and wakeboarding.
The 2011 Katy Ski Jam will look to attract top pro slalom ski and water ski jump athletes, including top Will Asher, Chris Parrish and Freddy Krueger, as well as 20 of the top Big Dawg skiers. Eagle Sports will partner with Malibu boats to insure these world-class athletes are pulled by the world’s best-selling ski boat.
The Eagle Sports Invitational is being organized as a family event with something for spectators of all ages. The event is produced by Pro Slalom Events and sponsored by Eagle Sports. Concessions and parking will be organized by the Lakes of Katy Water ski Club. Finals will be held Saturday night at 7 p.m., with light towers lighting up the lakes.
