Although the prize money is nil, the World Water Ski Championships draws the deepest, most competitive fields in all three events. This year’s Worlds, held in Calgary, Canada, Aug. 3-9, proved to be the most innovative and exciting to date. Live bands rocking the on-water stage, a 35,000-square-foot beer garden, and thousands of rowdy fans combined to make the six-day extravaganza a benchmark for future planners to, hopefully, live up to.
