MB Sports Boss 210

In the past few years, the luxury bow rider has emerged as a new category of inboard.

People who buy these boats can be quite demanding. While they may not be competitive skiers, they require excellent towing performance and near-perfect wakes. They prefer inboards to I/O runabouts or cruisers, but they expect the same comforts and amenities that the best recreational craft have to offer.

A number of companies have reacted to this growing market, but none with more success than MB Sports. This semi-custom builder from Merced, California, not only delivers the performance and creature comforts buyers demand, but also adds a large helping of quality.

Company founder Mike Brendel loves nothing more than to have the opportunity to point out the superior materials and workmanship that go into all of his boats. Leading-edge materials such as ISO NPG gel-coat, Hydro-Pel resin, triaxial fiberglass and aircraft aluminum combine with old-fashioned craftsmanship. Rather than settle for an assembly-line mentality, MB allows a small team of skilled workers to take ownership of the entire construction process.

Each MB hull is reinforced with MB's proprietary Hydro Tech chassis. Stiffened by space-age composites, this one-piece, all-fiberglass stringer system is backed by a lifetime warranty. The floor mold is bonded directly to this chassis, and the deck is in turn bonded to the hull to form what is essentially a one-piece boat.

To maintain both the quality and the upscale appearance of the 210, MB uses premium-grade vinyl and 40-ounce carpet to fabricate the interior. Hand-turned, custom anodized aluminum hardware adds another distinctive touch to the interior and topsides of this boat.

The true test of a luxury product lies not on the polished surface, but in areas not normally seen. By this definition, the 210 is luxury defined. The underside of each seat cushion, hatch and bolster is perfectly finished; wiring is chafe-protected and organized; and interior cavities are finished to the same level of perfection as the exterior.

Yes, the 210 has the wakes and performance upscale skiers demand, along with the storage and passenger space required of an upscale open-bow. But it is the extra measure of attention to detail that sets this boat apart from the fleet.
