Big, roomy V-drives are the fastest-growing segment of the inboard market. Offering a strong one-two punch of luxury and wakeboard performance, these boats have strong appeal with both the cruising sort and with aggressive, high-end wakeboarders.
Given these facts, it should come as no surprise that Tige, the boat company that has enjoyed great success catering to the recreational water-sports market, has added a new maxed-out, 23-foot V-drive to its year 2000 lineup.
The 23V limited edition is designed with crowds and big water in mind. It rides on a wave-taming V hull with 30 degrees of V at the bow and 13 degrees at the transom. Inside, the voluminous cockpit will accommodate a dozen passengers, plus a massive amount of water-sports equipment.
Many features of the 23V were designed to appeal to the upscale recreational boater, including the bolster-style swiveling bucket seats provided for driver and passenger. A wraparound stern lounge and roomy forward-facing bow lounges give the boat strong cruising and entertaining appeal, especially when it's equipped with the stow-away cockpit table, shower, heater, CD stereo and walk-through windscreen.
Like other Tige models, the 23V can be equipped with the TAPS system, which blends the wake-shaping and ride-enhancing benefits of an I/O drive with the power and response of a fixed-prop inboard. Boaters operating on large lakes will appreciate this feature, as it allows for superior performance and passenger comfort in rough water.
Water-sports performance has always been a major component of all Tige models, and the 23V continues this heritage. Engine options range from a Mercruiser 270-hp Vortec V8 to a 330-hp EFI Scorpion. All power options provide ample power and acceleration for aggressive skiers and riders – even when the boat is loaded with family and friends.
TAPS allows the driver to minimize wakes for slalom or recreational skiing and also enhances wake size and shape for wakeboarding. Owners who wish to maximize this boat's wakeboarding potential can order a telescoping pylon or one of two tower options.
