In today's boating market, inboard tow boats are expected to be all things to all people. Tigi was an early proponent of the “all-event tow boat,” and the latest example of this thinking is the 21i Riders Edition.
To create this special edition package, Tigi began with its proven 21-foot direct drive inboard, added a four-blade prop, then incorporated the graphics, interior and tower configuration first offered on its 21-foot V-drive. The addition of Tigi's proprietary Skybox Seating and TAPS options completed this model's evolution from traditional inboard to “new age tow boat.”
With real world seating for nine in the 83-inch-wide cockpit, the 21i can handle a crowd and all their cargo. Even if the day's schedule called for nothing more than sightseeing, the 21i would be up to the task, as the TAPS system could be adjusted for open-water comfort and the open interior would provide passengers with plenty of leg room and storage capacity.
But water sports have always been the 21i's true game, and its full potential becomes apparent only after someone gets wet and grabs a tow rope. With TAPS set for minimum size, the 21i delivers excellent slalom wakes.
At the other end of the spectrum, TAPS will lower the stern some 24 degrees, allowing riders to create the wake of their choice. Various combinations of weight and TAPS adjustment will produce civilized slopes for beginners and intermediate riders, as well as the large wakes experts crave.
While the 21i has the room and capacity to handle water ballast or static weight, Tigi has found a better way to add and move weight within the cockpit. The company's SkyBox Seating system allows the rear bench seat to be reversed, giving rear passengers a better view of the action while also concentrating several hundred pounds of wake-enhancing weight in the stern.
The towing tower rounds out the 21i's all-around appeal. Not only will this structure provide high-flying lift for riders, but it provides additional board storage and a secure attachment point for Bimini tops, lights and speakers.
