This is Malibu’s flagship wakeboard boat. The company describes the VLX as seamlessly combining performance, luxury and style while providing comfort, ride quality and possibly the best wakes in the industry.
The Wakesetter VLX has unprecedented ability to produce huge wakes with the factory weight. Malibu’s MLS ballast system incorporates two independent 250-pound ballast tanks in the aft and another 500-pound tank up front. With the optional new Wedge 23, you have the ability to add the equivalent of 2,000 pounds of ballast to the boat without any sacs.
This year the Wakesetter VLX has a new deck design, interior and beautiful automotive-style sewn dash featuring five-inch Borg Warner servo gauges. There’s a massive amount of storage, a big cooler, a 12v blender plug and a removable refreshment table. Other features include the Instantaneous Response Technology – a combination of rack-and-pinion steering, zero-friction throttle cables and custom underwater gear. There’s also a wind block bow partition, dual gas fills and a locking three-piece rear hatch.
The VLX impresses most in its wakes and handling. This boat is rock solid through double-ups due to the FibECS stringer and engine mounting system. With the ballast tanks filled, the wakes are killer for almost any rider. They have the right mix of solid pop without being too steep. The wakes this boat produces are among the best ever, while the luxury is second to none.
