If you think the MasterCraft ProStar 197 is already a 10, get
ready to crank it up to 11. For 2003, this model joins the ProStar
190 and 209 in offering the Sammy Duvall package of deluxe options
that strive to make the boat worthy of the Hall of Fame skier
— and, of course, worthy of you.
Duvall is happy with the 197 even when it doesn’t have his
signature plastered all over it. At its base, it’s an
open-bow version of the 190, with the same record-breaking,
five-event-certified hull that’s engineered to limit the
running surface and soften the slalom wake. We didn’t see any
bumps or spray at skiing speed, so feel free to tie on to the pylon
and go after new personal bests in the course at full tilt.
The interior gets soft vinyl lambskin, a leather-wrapped
steering wheel and a turned-aluminum instrument panel. Polish off
the look with a chrome shifter knob, chrome steering-wheel cap,
chrome ski pylon and stainless-steel windshield cap. You’ll
be stylin’ and skiin’ like a world champ.
The Lowdown:
•Shares the same world-class hull as the ProStar 190 for
exceptionally small and soft slalom wakes.
•Open bow creates more room and comfort for passengers.
•Seating is especially versatile with the flip-out
walk-through seat and rear seat that converts to a sun deck.
•Chrome and stainless accents throughout promote a
high-style look.
