Let’s talk crossover appeal. Can skiers and riders
actually be satisfied with the same boat? If it’s the MB 220
Sport, absolutely. It’s geared toward the skiing family, but
when weighted, has good-sized wakes for the intermediate-level
rider and holds speed with a consistent pull.

    Whereas many dual-purpose boats
don’t come close to delivering competition skiing
performance, the 220 Sport has a near tournament-level slalom
performance. It cuts the choppy stuff with ease and provides a soft
ride. And the standard internal ballast system provides impressive
wakes. At 1,600 pounds, this ballast weighs in at nearly double
what others in its class provide.

The boat has an easy-to-reach ice chest,
large 5-inch Faria gauges, lockable dry side-storage and standard
billet logos and hardware for clean lines and understated elegance.
The spacious walk-around room allows for 10 people, including four
adults in the bow.

While the front storage is somewhat
limited, the cavernous rear storage more than makes up for it. When
not in use, the rear storage locker doubles as a personal sun deck,
great for lounging between sets. The swim platform has nonskid
rubber and grab handles so skiers and riders can load their wet
equipment from the rear without drubbing passengers in the head.
And for blasting tunes while you ride, there’s the Clarion CD
player and stereo.

    Skiing, wakeboarding, kneeboarding, wake
surfing or just plain cruising — the 220 Sport does it
all.

    The Lowdown:

  • Near tournament-level slalom performance but with enough space
for 10, including four in the open bow — huge
    walk-through.

  • Comes standard with 1,600-pound water ballast system, more than
most boats in its class — impressive wakes for an
    inboard.

  • The Diamond Strake hull slices rough water for a soft ride, no
    porpoise lobs.

  • Easy to hold speed when weighted; great crossover ability.

  • Deep and spacious rear storage trunk.

  • Combines a sporty and elegant look backed by solid
    performance.
