 There’s something to be said about directness when
riding the fence leaves splinters. MB didn’t waffle on its
B52-V, trying to marry slalom with boarding. Nope, they avoided
those splinters. It’s all wakeboard, baby!

    The look, performance and feel of the
B52-V all aim at one thing — the core wakeboarding
enthusiast. Although this boat can be fun for a recreational skier,
MB has deliberately made a very potent wake producer.

    The hull is designed and hand-shaped for
bigger wakes, with a powerful PCM 330-hp Excalibur bolted to a
1.57:1 Hurth V transmission standard. For even more action, the
2003 model is available with a 425-hp Python engine.

    Two rocker switches can add up to 1,600
pounds of water ballast without fat sacks. Weighted, the boat gives
big, smooth-peaked wakes with steady transitions. And once
you’re going, it holds speeds and produces a smooth ride.

    As with other MB boats, the B52-V
doesn’t shy away from storage — especially the huge
locking rear compartments that can hold two boards per side. And
the wide walk-through lets your friends in and out of the open bow
with ease.

    The all-new gelcoat and upholstery combo
is completely custom. The graphics are created in the mold —
sprayed into the gelcoat to do away with cracking and peeling. And
boards are stored in the standard Skylon Swoop tower with billet
board racks.

    Arena seating and the soft-touch Clarion
Marine CD console bring on the party. When MB makes up its mind to
go core wakeboard, it doesn’t ride that fence — it
plows through it!
