It’s all about fun — and innovation — on
MB’s newest and most exciting model for 2003, the B52-VX2
Team Edition. This you gotta see.

    MB’s newest V-drive pushes forward
with some pretty innovative ideas, one of which — the new
two-speed technology — they claim will revolutionize the
sport of wakeboarding like nothing ever has. They just might be on
to something.

    The B-52 VX2 has the world’s first
wakeboard boat two-speed transmission, shifting seamlessly on the
fly, allowing for low-end torque to pull out of the hole and a
normal running gear for riding speeds and higher. Using their
impressive Triple Up system — with an internal three-stage
ballast that holds more than 2,100 pounds of water evenly balanced
front to rear — and our own fat sacks, we weighted the boat
to the extreme. Nevertheless, the two-speed transmission planed the
boat off quickly with no loss of horizon. We were thoroughly
impressed, especially considering most boats would be standing on
end with that kind of weight.

   The B-52 VX2 produced advanced to pro-sized
wakes with good transitions — gradual then abrupt at the lip.
With all of the ballast versatility offered by the Triple Up
ballast system, we were able to experiment with all kinds of line
lengths and boat speeds to customize the ride.

           The
boat’s size affords lots of company — plush wraparound
seating, bow playpen lounge seating, large center walk-through ice
chest, the works. And MB’s signature large rear storage
doubles as the sun deck, perfect for all sun worshippers and
onlookers alike. The solid tower and overhead speakers add to the
fun — and fun is definitely on tap with this high-end wake
producer.

 The Lowdown:

  • New two-speed technology allows for low-end torque pull at
slower speeds — out of the hole — while the running
gear is for riding speeds and higher. Should help on engine
    maintenance.

  • The 500-pound front Triple Up ballast tank, and 2,100 pounds of
total ballast, evenly balanced front to rear, below deck and out of
the way, provide nearly twice the weight of comparable wakeboard
    boats.

  • Lots of room for family and friends, plush arena seating, wide
walk-through with oversized bow, big ice chest — the perfect
    party boat.
