When we’re wakeboarding, we like a little extra beefiness
to our boat. Luckily for us, the Supra Launch has it.

What do we mean by beefiness? An extra-wide beam, increased
passenger capacity, more boat weight and a higher ballast
threshold. The Launch specs out at 98 inches, 13 people, 3,450
pounds and 1,775 pounds — all tops in the Supra lineup.
Loaded down, this inboard showed great tracking as we blazed a
trail of voluminous, rampy wakes with steep transitions and big,
clean double-ups suitable for pros. Driving through the double-ups
proved no problem, especially with the double sidewall
construction, deep-V hull and high bow. And we appreciated that the
Rad-a-Cage tower, two-bag ballast system and wake plate came
standard.

When we lightened the load and fastened our ski rope to the
swivel-head pylon, another standard, we were amazed at how well the
Launch transformed into a towboat for open-water recreational
skiers.

That versatility shows up throughout the boat. The double-up
flip-up seating in the comfy playpen changes where passengers can
sit, while the forward “basement” oversized locker and
rear compartment have plenty of room for ballast or all your skis
and boards. Three gelcoat patterns let you mix and match the
exterior look.

Where beefiness doesn’t work so well is in extra-large
price tags. Again, we’re happy with the Launch, which
successfully brings together Moomba value and Supra luxury in its
reasonable price.

 The Lowdown:

•In addition to its specialty, pro-level wakeboard wakes,
the inboard can dole out slalom wakes for recreational skiers,
too.

•Impressive handling with weight as it powers through
double-ups and choppy water.

•Deep freeboard helps keep bow passengers safe and dry.

•Wider beam allows for larger passenger and ballast
capacity.

•Big basement storage under the playpen.

•Comes standard with everything you need — tower,
ballast system, wake plate, swivel-head pylon — to start
boarding and skiing.
