The family that skis together stays together. We’ve
known that for a long time, yet it can be tough to find a boat big
enough to accommodate all the kin while offering performance good
enough to satisfy all the skiers. Thankfully, there’s the
Supra Sunsport.
First, let’s talk about that ski wake. This direct-drive
is USA Water Ski-approved for three-event, but you’ll enjoy
it even if you’re a pro wannabe. At 32 off, we glided over
sweet, soft wakes with not too much spray. The bump was fairly
soft, and when we went to 35 off, we noticed a dip. The swivel-head
pylon comes standard and helps extend the life of the towline. We
liked everything about the handling and responsiveness, and the
deep V-hull entry slices through even choppy water.
Ease up on the throttle, and the standard adjustable wake plate
and transitional hull design, with its carefully designed rocker
and chine shape, change the wake into large, firm lips. Opt for the
tower, put in some ballast and the boarders in the family are good
to go.
Speaking of the family, we saw plenty of room for passengers
whether you choose the playpen or walk-through bow. At 21 feet, 8
inches, this is an exceptionally long ski boat, which translates
into better seating and lots of storage. The double-up flip-up seat
adds to forward and rear seating while closing off the bow to limit
the wind swirling into the main cabin. Bow to stern, side to side,
the upholstery and carpet proved plush and comfy. Family harmony,
thy name is Supra Sunsport.
