           We’re
always most excited about testing new models, whether they’re
revised versions from the previous year or complete overhauls. The
new Tigé 22V Limited combines the best of both. Its extended
length is a step up from 2002’s 21V, while design
modifications to the 30-degree deep convex V-hull promote enhanced
handling and clean wakeboard wakes.

           The
final result is a roomy, versatile family water-sports boat
that’s deeper and smoother than ever. One of its best
features is that it offers riders great wakes even when you
don’t take advantage of the optional ballast system. Without
ballast, you still get perfect peaks, transitions that aren’t
too steep, long landing zones for blind finishes and big
double-ups. How is that possible? Among other design tweaks, the
hull has the ConvexV, an upward curve along the trailing edge that
works with the TAPS adjustable wake plate to raise and lower the
running attitude.

           Raise
the bow for boarding or take it back down for skiing. The wakes
quiet down to a slalom level with a firm size for recreational
skiers. Push the throttle to 34 mph and the bump flattens out for
more serious sets.

           Whatever
you pull behind the boat, your passengers won’t be pulled,
bumped or jostled in the super-steady ride. With
Tigé’s heavy-duty XL paneling-and-fiberglass
construction and wide 102-inch beam, we were plowing through choppy
water and double-ups without feeling a thing. Even a wakeboarder
attached to the tower doesn’t sway the boat at all. The
driver stays the course with ease because of great visibility over
the low-profile dash, secure seating in the swivel chair and toggle
switches positioned to the right of the steering wheel for
at-your-fingertips accessibility.

           The
interior has all the amenities you’ve come to expect from
Tigé to make your weekend on the water complete. A
bow-filler cushion and broad sun deck are two prime places to lie
back and relax. The storage, upholstery, carpeting and walk-around
space are all top-notch. Even when designing a new boat,
Tigé isn’t fixing what ain’t broke.

The Lowdown:

•Extended length and hull modifications are highlights of
this new Tigé model.

•No ballast is needed to generate clean, big wakeboarding
wakes with excellent characteristics.

•Especially solid ride through rough water.

•Swim platform stretches virtually the entire 102-inch
width of the boat for a super-sized entry point into the water.

•Driver’s side bow seat storage goes all the way
through.

•Optional stainless-steel rub rail is the finishing touch
on the classy, understated graphics.
