MasterCraft X-2
Recommendation: Hard-core Wakeboard

The X-2 is an integral part of wakeboarding's short but prodigious history. Introduced with the name X-Star for the 1995 X Games, this was MasterCraft's first wakeboard-oriented boat. It has become a proven winner after seven years at the X Games and six with the Pro Wakeboard Tour.

The name may have changed, but the boat hasn't. All the amenities that pro riders need are there, including Zero Flex Flyer tower, triple-tank 1,000-pound ballast system, Perfect Pass Wakeboard Pro and digital AM/FM/CD Clarion stereo. Storage, seating, sun deck and swim platform accommodate the basics. The 90-inch beam gives the X-2 an advantage in quick turns and improved handling over its wider counterparts.

For 2004, MasterCraft is enhancing this model with more radical hull graphics, new clamping board racks, revamped gray interior, restyled tower speakers and fog lights, and a midnight black dash, armrest and glove box. It may be time for you to revisit this classic.

Wakeboarding
For years, pro riders pushed the envelope in some of the world's biggest contests behind this boat. With solid, thick wakes that rise to rounded peaks, anyone from beginners up to the most advanced riders can practice launching inverts and spins. The X-2's hull sculpts the perfect wake. Its narrow but nimble design allows incredible driving and handling performance in a V-drive configuration. The boat performed flawlessly for our testers when it was completely weighted for riding. Powered with the robust Indmar MCX, the acceleration up to wakeboarding speed was smooth and quick. This is one machine that undoubtedly and consistently has proven that it has the gusto to live the wakeboarding lifestyle.
