Sanger V230 Wake Series
Recommendation: Wakeboard

Amid the trend toward larger V-drives that bridge the gap between tow boats and family cruisers, Sanger offers its V230. This model replicates the driving performance of the smaller V210 while providing generous amounts of legroom, storage and seating.
This big boat smoothly cuts through chop with an especially sharp 30-degree V entry that tapers to a 16-degree deadrise at the transom. Whether you're cruising on a big lake or pulling a rider through a double-up, the ride inside feels secure thanks to a deep freeboard and the wood-composite stringers that dampen vibrations. No matter where the passengers are lounging, there's a self-draining cooler within reach: one in the bow, one in the dash, and a big 50-quart one behind the driver's seat. Tuck your drink into a lighted cup holder, then just relax and enjoy the ride.
Skiing
Yes, this is a big V-drive with a very wide 100-inch beam, so no, you aren't doing any serious skiing. Take a recreational set, then put your ski in one of the large storage lockers and pull out a tube for the kids to have a go.
Wakeboarding
The Wake Series 2 package outfits the V230 with enough quick-filling ballast – 540 pounds in the front, more than 300 pounds on each side in the rear – to produce big, smooth wakes. While they could use more kick, the wakes are long and clean for intermediate riders.
Lowdown
-Sanger's biggest boat is a welcome addition to the growing number of family-sized V-drives.
-Its hull slices through rough water, while its construction keeps the ride soft and stable.
-Even weighted down for wakeboarding, it maintains its handling and responsiveness.
-Wide, long design has enough room for big storage lockers, a generous sun pad and three coolers.
-Wake Series 2 package maxes out the ballast potential, as well as adding a tower and special graphics.
