Centurion Boats 2005 Avalanche C4

Centurion Avalanche C4

OVERVIEW
While the Avalanche has earned many fans, Centurion doesn't want to lose any boat buyers who want everything the Avalanche offers — except for its walk-through transom. That's why there's the Avalanche C4, featuring the traditional V-drive design. The sun pad extends across the 100-inch beam, as does the rear bench, which ups the passenger capacity from 10 to 12.
Aside from that notable difference, the Avalanche and the Avalanche C4 share the same commitment to wake performance and passenger comfort. The wide-open spaces of the interior provide loads of room for wakeboarders and their friends to spread out. Stash gear and supplies under the open-bow seating, at the observer's station or along the port-side bench. Drinks go in the insulated cooler under the bow walk-through and in any of the 13 cup holders sprinkled throughout. Outfitted with the optional Storm 3 wakeboarding package, the Avalanche C4 is more than ready to ride.

WAKEBOARDING
The C4 version has the same wakeboarding wakes that we've seen from the Avalanche. It gets out of the water great when loaded, tracking is decent, and the extra weight understandably takes a little oomph out of its turning ability. Wakes are a good size, with a super-steep transition and lippiness that boosts you to big air. The trim tab was a nice feature in tweaking the wakes to what each of our testers liked. An upgrade to the rear ballast amplifies the size of the wakes while taking advantage of the C4's “no walk-through” transom. Getting the optional Sideswipe exhaust system increases the versatility by opening up the world of wake surfing. The side vents expel fumes to the opposite side of the boat from the surfer for easier breathing.

LOWDOWN
• The C4 is the popular Avalanche without the walk-through transom.
• Sun pad stretches the width of the 100-inch beam.
• Deep-V hull slices through choppy conditions.
• The 30-inch draft has the boat riding low in the water to boost wakeboarding wakes higher.
• Wakeboarding packages range from the new optional swooped-back tower and center ballast to rear ballast, killer stereo system and board racks.
• Snap-out carpet in the open bow and wraparound lounge rolls away for easy hose-downs.
