OVERVIEW
The Sunscape 23 LSV is smooth in every sense of the word. In our test drive the ride was excellent, as the V design of the V25 Diamond hull knifed through choppy conditions. A wide, stable 100-inch beam and high-tech fiberglass construction help create such a rattle-free ride. It could have been glassy water for all we could tell, nestled calmly in the suave, roomy wraparound lounge and open bow.
That interior, stretched along a 23-foot centerline, offers a bigger option for bigger families who may be attracted to Malibu's Luxury Sports V series but need more space than the 21 LSV. You can fit two more people onto the 23 LSV, and the 96-quart ice chest — under the long side bench behind the deluxe helm — is 50 percent bigger. But the boat's impressive tracking and responsiveness are similar to the smaller models', as are the multisport capabilities for families of wakeboarders and skiers. Smooth indeed.
SKIING
For free skiing, this 23-foot V-drive offers a weekend of fun and consistent pulls with manageable recreational wake crossings, even if you're in big water. You'll find a decent skiing wake with a flat table at 15 off when the speedo hits 30 or 32 mph.
WAKEBOARDING
At slower speeds, the engine weight in the back combined with the digitally designed V25 Diamond hull help generate wakes with an inkling of wakeboarding greatness. Enhance them further with wakeboarding-specific upgrades like rear and midship ballast, as well as the Wedge hydrofoil, for advanced wakes with smooth, clean peaks.
LOWDOWN
• The 23-foot-long, 100-inch-wide 23 LSV is the midsize choice of the luxury Sunscape lineup.
• Spacious seating throughout the boat features thick vinyl upholstery and expansive tucked-away storage compartments.
