OVERVIEW
Let's face it: When you try to please all the people all the time, you usually come up with a compromise that leaves everyone flat. That's definitely not the case with this roomy
X-Series direct-drive that delivers a good time for wakeboarders, skiers, footers, tubers and those just along for fun in the sun.
The X-9 is an all-around water-sports ride and family-fun boat with a wakeboard vibe and a shredder's wrapper. It's the largest direct-drive inboard in the MasterCraft stable, with a 96-inch beam.
For water-ski purists who crave tight tracking and crossable wakes, there are the world-record-capable hull and throttle-by-wire technology, powered by the new GM Vortec RTP-1 block. To satisfy your inner Parks Bonifay, you get the double KGB ballast system and the redesigned ZeroFlex Flyer tower with easy-to-handle rotating board racks.
SKIING
The X-9 tournament-certified hull fills its niche best as a intermediate skier's boat, catering to those at 15 to 32 off, at speeds of 30-34 mph. At shortline you may experience some spray, and you'd be better served to check out the X-7.
WAKEBOARDING
From 18 to 23 mph, the double KGB ballast helps the X-9 create respectably large, well-angled wakes for a direct-drive, plenty suitable for weekend board warriors. Ramps are long and clean enough to set you up for respectable aerial maneuvers.
LOWDOWN
• If 310 multiport horses aren't enough to get you excited, try one of three other Vortec engines with juice up to 425 hp.
• An oversized boarding platform gives riders/skiers enough room to strap it on without doing a balancing act.
• The double Keel-line Gravity Ballast (KGB) system provides up to an additional 700 pounds of wake-sculpting heft.
• The all-new four-speaker JL Audio system comes with a 10-inch subwoofer that gives your Barry White collection the low end it deserves.
