Session 22SI
OVERVIEW
At first glance you might be per-suaded to think the family-friendly 22Si is a poseur on the wake-sports scene, until you realize that Session simply took the same high-performance wake-producing hull as the 22Xi and gave it the traditional wraparound seating setup of a V-drive, with a little variety.
In this version, your posse (or kids) don't have to hop over the rear sun pad on their way to strap it on for a session. The unique walk-through transom is convertible into a reclining seat when you unfold the starboard sun pad.
From top to bottom, the 22Si is solid. A fold-down tower is constructed with 2-inch clear-anodized aluminum tubing that makes it rigid and rattle-free. The stringer system is all fiberglass, and is mated to the hull and filled with structural foam for a strong, quiet ride. The standard Taper graphics on the hull are incorporated into the gelcoat to protect against blistering and give you years of splashy identity.
WAKEBOARDING
Don't think that this boat is any tamer than its 22Xi companion just because it's more tailored for family fun. You get the same wake characteristics as with the 22Xi; you just don't have as much factory ballast aboard. It has one less tank of internal ballast (three total — 620 pounds) than the Xi. But with the new optional wake-sculpting Whale Tail, the difference is negligible. These pro-level wakes have big, smooth ramps that are well-angled and generate excellent pop. Transitions are quick, but consistent. On double-ups the 22Si's hull takes bumps in stride, with no jarring of your passengers' fillings.
