OVERVIEW
More and more, “going wakeboarding” means not just getting serious hang time behind the boat but getting serious hanging-out time on the boat. Which is why wakeboarders often demand more and more interior space. Ski Supreme serves it up with the 23-foot-long, 100-inch-wide V230.
The idea is never to turn a friend away because you've run out of space. Up to 12 people can climb aboard and chill in the open bow and wraparound lounge, or lie across the sun pad. It's all well padded like a living room. Lean back on the observer's seat and you'll swear you're in an easy chair.
We prefer rear hatches open the other direction (though we loved the electronic hatch), but it'd be hard to improve on the cavernous bow storage holds. The boat's size makes the ride through chop fantastic, without any porpoising.
SKIING
For a V-drive wakeboarding boat, good recreational sets can still be had at 15 off. What the wakes give up in size they make up in a fairly soft crossing at 30-32 mph. We got the V230 out of the hole relatively quickly, and it tracked very straight.
WAKEBOARDING
With the Sky package, the V230 comes with styling graphics in the gelcoat, a tower, ballast tanks built into the hull, and a ballast gauge. Taking full advantage of that plus the trim tab, we generated wide, rounded wakes. Then we got greedy and loaded on additional ballast to push the swells toward the pro level. Even with all that weight, the drive was solid.
LOWDOWN
• In terms of size and amenities, the Sky Supreme V230 is the company's maxed-out model.
• Focus is on passenger space and comfort in an open, padded interior.
• Use (or don't use) the ballast and trim tab to realize the boat's full wakeboarding (or skiing) potential.
• Available with traditional wraparound seating or with a transom walkway hidden under a removable sun-pad cushion.
