Supra 2005 Launch 21V

Supra Launch 21V

OVERVIEW
Supra's direct-drive Launch earned new fans last year with its 2004 redesign. Now for 2005, Supra builds on that success with a V-drive version, the Launch 21V.
Wakeboarders are going to love it, and not just because of the wakes billowing out the back. The rear-engine configuration opens up a wraparound lounge that is both wide and deep, nestled into the high freeboard. There's also the popular convertible bench that transforms into rear-facing seating to watch the wakeboarding action. Storage trunks alongside the engine compartment — all of which have easy access with the three-piece sun pad design and gas-assisted shocks — accommodate two bags in the standard three-bag ballast system. The 40-gallon gas tank is slightly larger than the Launch's, and the OJ CNC-machined prop is a four-blade.
Aside from that, the Launch 21V has what makes the Launch 21 so great — solid hand-laid fiberglass construction, abundant stainless steel and thoughtful touches like recessed storage lighting.

SKIING
The Supra Launch 21V isn't one to give false hope of great skiing performance — it was designed with the wakeboarder in mind. Nonetheless, it can definitely entertain the occasional nonaggressive open-water slalom set, particularly at 15 off between 30 and 32 mph.

WAKEBOARDING
Our testers were eager to ride the V-drive version of Supra's legendary Launch 21 wakeboarding machine. They found the wakes to be a bit more rampy, with a thicker lip compared to those of the other Supras in the lineup. The 21V's wake size will entertain riders at intermediate to advanced skill levels, and we recommend pulling in the line to 60-65 feet for optimal performance.
