For families who want V-drive power without too much edgy wakeboarding attitude, MB Sports suggests the upscale style of its 220 V. Its manageable 22-foot size is the answer to typical wakeboarding powerhouses that may be a little too much boat for some families.
That’s not to say this boat doesn’t pack some punch. With 1,600 pounds of factory ballast, the 220 V offers loads of wakeboarding performance, and thanks to its multisport design, it also offers the recreational skiers in your family a fun set.
In a nutshell, this is the perfect family multisport boat. Weekend skiers will enjoy the ride at 15 off, 30-32 mph, although the wakes become noticeably harder at faster speeds. The wakeboarders in the family have the edge behind the 220 V — the stock ballast configuration produces meaty wakes with excellent shape that allow near-advanced moves.
With the robust optional PCM ZR6 375-horsepower engine, our testers liked the agile handling of the 220 V’s running surface. Throw in its solid feel on the water and fine tracking ability and you’ve got a boat that’s a pleasure to drive for any water sport.
The 220 V tones down some of the more overt attitude of MB Sports’ B52 line to make way for unadulterated luxury. Our testers were taken aback by the clean and functional style of the interior layout and the thoughtfully contoured seats.
