When Tigé started designing the new Vé series for 2006, it considered dealer and customer feedback from previous years. The result is a high-performance 22-foot V-drive with some refined touches of luxury that would make any wakeboard or ski boat stand out from the pack.
With an interior design that made our testers question whether it really is only 22 feet long, the 22Vé features one of the most spacious layouts available in its size class. Other creature comforts, such as stainless-steel cup holders and Kicker speakers, make this wakeboard and ski boat stand out as one of the most impressive combinations of luxury and performance.
Wakes
Once we got a look at the stylish new additions to the Tigé line, we were excited for the chance to get behind the all-new 22Vé, and after our testing session we were not disappointed. The 22Vé served up wakes that ranged from peaky to mellow, depending on where we set the TAPS2. Beginning riders won’t be intimated by the super-mellow wakes we got with the TAPS2 set at 1, and with the system jacked up to 7, more-advanced riders will enjoy nice peaky lips with steeper transitions. Riders considering expert-level moves will want the optional four-tank, 850-pound ballast system. Skiers can count on wakes subtle enough for recreational sets, although noticeable wake firmness rules out any shortline action.
Handling
After its solid performance in our wake test, the 22Vé already had a hefty reputation to live up to when we tested its handling. But as we expected, the new 22Vé passed with flying colors and scored strong marks in every category. The tracking was above average, offering a solid pull even with hard edging from aggressive riders. The Tigé SpeedSet cruise control was easy to use and performed flawlessly. The boat turns easily left or right, and its running attitude is well balanced. When we took it through chop, the 22Vé held its own with no heavy pounding.
Comfort
The first thing we noticed climbing into the 22Vé was the impressive amount of space for its size class. The interior is laid out for maximum walk-about room as well as ample storage for all your gear. The extra-wide walk-through leads to an open bow that is noticeably deep with plenty of legroom. To complement the enhanced interior, you can choose from six graphics packages, which range from the in-your-face West Coast Edition to the classy Limited Edition. Once you step on board the 22Vé, you’ll also notice other touches of luxury, including stainless-steel cup holders, a swiveling captain’s chair and wide, comfy seat cushions.
