OVERVIEW
A straightforward boat that doesn't lack any essentials, the GTS 20 suits an entry-level buyer or a zeroed-in competitor. Its workhorse personality is evident from the sleek, closed-bow design to the standard 310 hp engine. At just under 20 feet long and only 83 inches wide, it works its nimble frame toward an aggressive performance that matches its low-slung style.
For 2007, Gekko has added a few nice touches to the GTS's minimalist appearance, including stainless-steel appointments and new, in-gel graphics packages.
PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS
When it debuted in 1995, the GTS 20 was designed as a price-point model, so when it was reintroduced in 2005, it represented a return to straightforward practicality for skiers who were serious about shortline slalom, a reasonable price bracket, or both. Designed with these buyers in mind, the GTS 20's muscle-car looks are purely utilitarian.
We've found that the low-slung gunwales and narrow, 83-inch beam keep the wakes extremely small with only a slight bump at 22 off, and provide an impressive hole shot even with the standard engine. Because of its size, it's not ideal for rough conditions, but it gets the job done when it comes to nimble handling and steady tracking.
