Malibu Wakesetter 247 LSV 2007

BOAT REVIEW
The Wakesetter 247 LSV has only been on the market for one year, and already it’s making history. In 2006, its budding reputation as Malibu’s best wakeboard machine ever won Powerboat magazine’s Boat of the Year award and earned Malibu the title for the fifth consecutive year. Its tendency to impress stems from its zeroed-in wakeboarding focus, which offers riders 30 percent more space in the rear lounge than most boats in its class, for comfortable socializing in between sets and a setup that produces pro-level wakes for hard-core sessions. Whether you’re serious about wakeboarding or just hanging out in style, this wakeboard and ski boat is designed for you.

PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS
When it was introduced last year, the Wakesetter 247 LSV became one of the favorites with our wakeboarders. Besides its obvious wake-churning abilities, this 24-foot-7-inch behemoth proved big V-drives don’t have to handle like barges. The balanced hull and Gorilla tracking fins work together for tight turns and solid stability even through the monstrous double-ups it’s capable of producing.

But the real show takes place behind the boat where beefy wakes come courtesy of its 4,000-pound dry weight and up to 1,400 pounds of ballast. Opt for the adjustable Power Wedge, and you’ll be equipped to displace the equivalent of an additional 1,200 pounds of water. The results of all that are long, beefy wakes, just as you’d expect, as well as a refined shape that will allow you to perfect advanced-level moves. Use the Power Wedge to make the wakes more mellow or rampy.
