BOAT REVIEW

Decked out in a hard-core graphics package and edgy styling lines, the MB Sports B52 V is suited for recreational wakeboarding and multisport versatility. Its 1,800 pounds of standard ballast give this wakeboard and ski boat the capability to churn up wakes that match its appearance. On board, MB’s signature attention to details such as comfortably sloped seat backs and billet appointments make this boat a pleasure for passengers as well. For 2007 there’s an additional 11 inches in the cockpit and four inches on the freeboard, creating a more spacious interior.

PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS
For 2007 the wakeboard-oriented B52 V features MB’s latest development, the Extended Wake Plane hull. A unique keel pattern with a molded-in piece allows the boat to get on plane quickly with minimal bow rise, even when the ballast tanks are full. The result is a cleaner, more efficient wake with steeper ramps for advanced moves. The wakes are also larger this year thanks to an increased ballast system, which adds up to 1,800 pounds of weight to this already hefty V-drive.

Meanwhile, the hull is also designed to minimize spray and flatten the wake when the ballast tanks are empty and the speed increases to 30 mph, for versatile skiing performance. Like the 220 V, which uses the same hull, the B52 V also has a lot to offer with regard to handling, remaining stable in rough conditions and turning with efficiency.
