Ski Pro - Marine Tec Extreme 2100 BRX 2007

BOAT REVIEW
With the Extreme 2100 BRX, Ski Pro has in mind families looking to get more into wakeboarding and skiing without giving up the things they love about a stern-drive setup. The 2100 BRX has a relatively high top-end speed and good control at low speeds for docking, matched with the on-board feel and exterior style of a tow boat. This Texas-based company is also ready and willing to work with its more imaginitive customers and create a truly one-of-a-kind custom boat. For example, there’s a 2100 BRX our there with a huge Texas Longhorns logo on the side.

PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS
It’s a rare inboard that can climb past 50 mph. Rigged with a 420-horsepower big-block engine, we’ve seen this 2100 BRX tear across the water at 80 mph. Combine that with a special exhaust system that can vent out the sides for a huge muscle-car-style roar, and this boat gets noticed fast. With a small-block V8, the boat still has good speeds of up to 65 mph, and it’s easy to trailer at just 2,800 pounds.

The hull is the same as that on the VDX, so it has a steep deadrise angle that creates big, steep wakes and cuts through chop. Because the 2100 BRX is a stern-drive, there’s a little more wash at the peak and lip of the wakes, but that’s inherent with I/Os. The nearly 1,000 pounds of factory ballast, in two in-floor tanks running the full length of the boat, dig the boat deeper into the water to up the wake size. The ride for passengers is good, and the driver enjoys turning that’s not quite as sharp as the VDX’s dual-rudder control, but is still effective.
